Cav. Uff. Lawyer. Giuseppe Verderese

Giuseppe Verderese was born in Buccino on 14 novembre 1869 by Michele, possidente, son of the late Francesco, and by Maria Antonia Fernicola of the late Michele.
Graduated in law, the 12 January 1899 was admitted to the Register of Prosecutors of the Salerno College as a lawyer and the 2 April 1910 he also passed the notary exams at the Naples Court of Appeal with top marks.
He was uninterruptedly part of the Buccinese municipal administration for over fifteen years.

Appointed councilor and councilor in the administration led by his brother-in-law, the lawyer. Nicola Bosco, composed following the partial elections held on 28 July 1907, he would then succeed al Bosco in the role of mayor on 26 July 1910, when he was unanimously elected by 16 advisers. Unanimously re-elected the 20.6.1914 and then again the 3.10.1920, remained in office until 1923 When, notoriously being a supporter of Giovanni Amendola and an anti-fascist, he was 'forced' by events to leave the leadership of the administration, which was dissolved in that year by the Council of State - following the requests of the turbulent Buccine Fascio led by the doctor Pietro Bosco - to be entrusted to the Prefectural Commissioner Antonio Vaccari.
In May 1919 the mayor Verderese took the initiative for the erection of the war memorial in Buccini, then inaugurated on 8 June 1924, promoting a public subscription for this purpose. The 14 January 1922 he was appointed by the Board of Directors of the Banca Popolare Cooperativa di San Gregorio Magno, on the occasion of the opening of its branches in Buccino, honorary member of the board of regency of the local agency. He was part of the official delegation of the Municipality of Buccino designated by the Prefectural Commissioner to participate in the inauguration of the Contursi aqueduct, which took place on Sunday 25 October 1925.
To the lawyer. Verderese were also recognized various honors by the state. The 30 December 1915 he was appointed by the King Knight of the Order of the Crown of Italy and the Prefect of Salerno, expressing its favorable opinion on the granting of the title, among other things, he emphasized the "satisfaction of the citizens" for his syndication "being scrupulous and zealous administrator". The 23 July 1922 the sovereign promoted him to the higher rank of Officer in the same Order of the Crown of Italy and also in this case the Prefecture, in granting his consent to the appointment, in the related investigation he described him as an «energetic man, with a lively and combative temperament ".
The assignments received during his long political activity even outside of Buccino indicate his manifest value as a 'man of the institutions'. The 18 July 1915 the Salerno Intendency of Finance appointed him an effective member of the first instance commission for Direct Taxes of Buccino, buildings sector, for the four-year period 1915-1919, then confirming him in office on 8 July 1923, as ordinary effective member, for the four-year period 1923-1927. The Municipality of Campagna il 2 January 1915 appointed him as his representative in the setting up of the Provincial Granary Consortium which had the task of regulating the supply and distribution of cereals or flours, confirming him in this role again and unanimously the 15 May 1917. subsequently, the 1 June 1918 the Prefect appointed him agricultural commissioner for the municipalities of Buccino and Romagnano al Monte.
The esteem enjoyed by the Verderese with the provincial authorities and the role of leading figure in the Buccine political-administrative life of that period is well highlighted by his subsequent appointment (12 October 1926) as Prefectural Commissioner for the administration of the Municipality of Buccino. The note with which the 10 October 1926 the Subprefect of Campagna proposed his appointment to the Prefect revealed in fact that he had been chosen following a peacemaking agreement between the two factions that dominated the turbulent Buccinese political life of that period and defined him as a "person of absolute moral integrity, remained almost extraneous to the events of inspired local politics […] to personalistic and interest criteria ", able to give "a guarantee that it will perform its task well in the political and administrative fields". The administration of the Municipality held up to 10 April 1927, when the mayor Carmine Carbone took over.
He died in Buccino a 59 years the 15 February 1929, leaving an only child, Michele, had by his wife Anna Maria Bosco - daughter of Pasquale, other mayor of Buccino - who had married the 20 December 1906 and that he had left him a widower on 1 February 1911.
