As part of the Dialogues of History Online 2020 – organized by the MIdA Foundation and edited by prof. Rosanna Alaggio (UNIMOL) – intended to host a series of reports on historical realities of our territory to broaden their knowledge and enhancement, also from a tourist point of view, Dr. Adele Lagi, director of National archeologic museum he was born in Urban Archaeological Park of the Ancient Volcei, he held an interesting seminar “The rock stone: earthquake, urban archeology and history of a city”, in which he recalled the history of the archaeological experience in Buccino from the post earthquake to the creation of the Museum and the Park.

The Archaeological Superintendence of Salerno-Avellino-Benevento, indeed, he began a protection intervention in Buccino from the days immediately following the November earthquake 1980 in the area of S. Stefano where, following an excavation for the placement of prefabricated buildings for earthquake victims, a vast area of necropolis was discovered with tombs dating back to between the seventh and fourth centuries BC. This was only the beginning of a protection work carried out by controlling all reconstruction activities, especially in the historic center that, as was already known from the sources, corresponded to the ancient city of Volcei. An urban archeology strategy was identified and implemented which led to the creation of an urban archaeological park in the historic center and which, together with the archaeological survey in the area, has allowed the design of a park spread over the territory and the archaeological museum of Volcei and its territory.
